How does cashback work?

There are 2 types of cashback: 'Cashback by Redemption' and 'Guaranteed/Automatic Cashback'.

Guaranteed/Automatic Cashback is normally a smaller amount than 'Cashback by Redemption', this is because the retailer automatically pays the advertised cashback directly in to your account between 30 and 100 days after you have purchased the deal. Which means you don't have to do any work!

Cashback by Redemption can reduce your bill quite significantly, however you have to send copies of your monthly bills at set intervals to claim the cashback advertised. Any advertised cashback amount will be paid over the lifetime of your contract, you will not receive the full amount in one go. There are pitfalls to this, for example, if the retailer doesn't receive the proof you are still paying the bill, they will void the cashback payment. Each retailer will have a different way to for you to claim your cashback, but normally your cashback can be claimed every 3, 6, 9 and 12 months of your contract. So if you have £100 cashback, then you will receive cashback in 4, £25 payments.

Networks don't usually offer cashback deals, the deals are available through retailers. The way the industry works is, the networks pay the retailers money everytime they sell a deal on that network. Let's say for example a network gives a retailer £300.00 for every sale. In order to entice you to buy their deal a retailer will use some of that £300.00 as cashback.
